This humorous day of light hearted pranks is a great resource for teaching children differences between lying and tricking.  Children of many ages and abilities can participate in this day full of laughter.  Remember to video those hard to hold back laughs as the kids wait to see the face of the person they tricked!  Here are some references to help you prepare for the fun:    List of Books about April Fools Day         Let the Kids Join in the FUN!

April 1st, also known as All Fools Day is a light hearted holiday designed for fun loving jokes and pranks.  CDKL5 is no joke and how to resolve it sure does stump everyone, parents and doctors alike.  Although CDKL5 children suffer with various difficult to manage symptoms they are clever.  They do not wait for April 1st to try and fool you.

Most of these children are excellent at avoidance tactics.  Therapy is seen as structured play but to the children they know it is hard work.  To avoid this physically and mentally exhausting activity they are great at “playing possum.”  Many of the mom’s raising CDKL5 children will tell you the kids are excellent tricksters pretending to sleep when the therapist walks into the room but as soon as they leave, the eyes open.  We have seen this with Harper a few times but after about 10 minutes she will usually wake up and participate.  Harper will also roll to her side in an effort to ignore you.  Most of the time this is not a problem until one day she attempted this self taught technique during aqua therapy.  She quickly learned that water is a place you want to keep your head up!
