\”…We all Want to CHANGE the World…\”
Dustin and I have taken two very different interests but yet we have stumbled together in the process to find that it is all intermingled. Dustin’s focus is politics and mine has been medical. Both interests led us to oddly enough, food, and we find it is actually all centered around…..MONEY! (Food Inc., Hungry For a Change, Gerson Therapy, GAPS Diet, and the list goes on…) Perhaps this is why money is mentioned over 2000 times in the Bible. “For the LOVE of money IS the root of all kinds of EVIL!” (1 Timothy 6:10)
It seems so obvious! Harper’s genetic disorder is from a non hereditarily damaged gene that provides instructions for making a protein essential in brain development. “Proteins are enzymes that catalyze biochemical reactions and are vital to metabolism.” If one is broken it cannot do it’s job. If one metabolic process is blocked the whole process backs up. Through the use of supplementation you should be able to bridge the areas that are not functioning properly. This is not a cure for CDKL5 it just makes the body of an individual suffering with any disorder function better and therefore reduce the symptoms that are metabolic in nature.
Now why has it been so difficult to find a doctor knowledgable about true metabolic functions? Lack of research! Why? Money, but not lack of funding rather lack of profit obtained by pharmaceutical and medical industries! Doctors are not taught to focus on the use of supplementation to better your health. I must note that Harper is recieving phenomenal care from her current Neurologist and Pediatrician. They go above and beyond in an effort to help Harper. We couldn’t be happier with her current team of care! However, Harper’s case is beyond the expertise of anyone really! But we can never say they didn’t do everything possible for her because they do!
According to the UT Southwestern Biochemistry professors we spoke with regarding carbohydrate metabolism, the amount of study in metabolics has significantly declined over the past 10 years. Why? Again, because of Money! The food industry probably stands to lose a lot of money if it were discovered that things like GMOs and high fructose corn syrup were not the best for your overall health.
“Organic foods are foods that are produced using methods that do not involve modern synthetic methods such as the use of synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers, do not contain genetically modified organisms, and are not processed using irradiation, industrial solvents, or chemical food additives. For the vast majority of human history, agriculture can be described as organic; only during the 20th century was a large supply of new synthetic chemicals introduced to the food supply. In the United States, a food can be labelled as “organic” if it contains a minimum of 95% organic ingredients.” Did you realize that the salad you chose for lunch today at your favorite restaurant, in an effort to be “healthy,” contained chemicals claimed to be acceptable only due to a lack of research proving otherwise?
