Dear Supporters:
We want to thank you for all you have done in helping us get closer to reaching our $200 thousand dollar goal for the Seizure Research Project. Thanks to your generosity we have funded almost ¾ of the project. The remaining $60 thousand is due by December 31, 2012.
Over the past year Harper has experienced a number of intense set backs with up to 30 painful seizures per day lasting up to 15 minutes long; a dislocated jaw, loss of all physical abilities including eating and drinking, two weeks in Pediatric Intensive Care due to RSV (a serious respiratory virus), and sadly a lost smile. It wasn’t until October of this year we began to see her smile return; improvement in regaining her lost abilities, and for the first time hear her laugh! When her smile came back we knew there was HOPE and that makes this path laid before us easier to follow. We cannot continue to walk in HOPE without the support and prayers you have provided. Thank you for being there for us.
Your financial support has allowed Dr. Frances Jensen and her research laboratory to identify upstream regulators that might mediate changes in the CDKL5 pathway and also show that the downstream mecp2 pathway can be activated. They are currently working to see if this mediated change can be independent of CDKL5 function. In addition, they have initiated collaboration with Dr. Joe Zhou, at The University of Pennsylvania.
Donations for the completion of this project can be made online at www.hope4harper.com/donate or anonymously via check dated no later than December 31, 2012, made payable to FUMC. (First United Methodist Church 2201 East Hebron Pkwy Carrollton, Tx 75010) NOTE: PLEASE BE SURE TO PUT HOPE4HARPER IN THE MEMO SECTION FOR CORRECT ALLOCATION OF YOUR DONATION TO HER PROJECT. Funds on Harper’s behalf will not be accepted by FUMC after December 31, 2012.
Many Blessings,
Penny Howard
